What is a poultry farm?

A poultry farm — ferme avicole in French — is an agricultural operation specialised in raising poultry: mainly chickens, but also broilers, turkeys, ducks, geese, guinea fowl and quail. Poultry farming, or aviculture, covers all the techniques used to raise domestic birds for eggs, meat or breeding stock.

Poultry farms range from small family operations selling directly to consumers, to large industrial units producing millions of eggs or birds per year. They are a cornerstone of the global food supply, turning feed into high-quality protein efficiently.
